PROJECT-BASED LEARNING USING ICT

In this workshop you will learn about collaborative learning and computer-based collaborative learning supported by online learning environments such as GoConqr, Edmodo, Nearpod, Mahara, Moodle, Google Classroom, Trello and Padlet. You will see how the tools presented here are a great enrichment and enabler for project-based learning.

This workshop is designed to introduce how to carry out project-based learning using ICT. It consists of 3 sections in addition to an introduction and a conclusion:
- Collaborative Learning
In this topic you will learn some basic concepts related to collaborative learning. You will learn about the different definitions of collaborative learning, the comparison between traditional and collaborative learning groups, the role of the teacher in collaborative learning, ways of assessing collaborative learning, and the difficulties and challenges cited by many researchers in the field.
As a conclusion to the section, it is compulsory to pass a quiz designed to check understanding of the content presented. As a recommended activity, you are invited to participate in a forum where you are invited to share your experiences of collaborative learning.
- Computer-based collaborative learning
In this topic you will learn some basic concepts related to computer-assisted collaborative learning. We will present some selected examples of computer-based collaborative learning, as well as additional links in the field of collaborative learning using ICT. In the table below we present a comparative analysis of online collaborative learning environments, which you can explore in more detail below. Through the guides you will learn about the following online collaborative learning environments: Moodle, Edmodo, Google Classroom, Nearpod, Mahara, GoConqr, Trello, Padlet.
As a conclusion to the section, you must pass a quiz designed to check your understanding of the content presented. As a recommended activity, you are welcome to participate in the forum, where you are invited to share your experiences with computer-supported collaborative learning.
- Project-based learning
In this topic you will learn about the project-based learning approach, how to evaluate it and how to support it with ICT. We present various examples of planning project-based learning supported by collaborative learning environments such as Mahara, GoConqr, Nearpod, Moodle, Padlet, Trello, Edmodo and Google Classroom.
As a conclusion to the section, it is mandatory to submit an assignment in which you are required to plan a project-based learning activity and develop a framework for it in one of the presented tools. Participation in a forum on the topic of project-based learning is recommended.
Objectives of the online workshop:
- to learn about the collaborative learning approach;
- to learn about computer-based collaborative learning;
- to learn about the project-based learning approach supported by collaborative learning environments;
- planning strategies and introducing project-based learning into your own teaching work.
Prerequisites for the recognition of the online workshop:
- During the announced workshop period, you are kindly invited to participate in the different topics of the participant forum (discussion, content questions, etc.) located at the beginning of the workshop. Participation in at least one discussion (either by posting a discussion or responding to an existing discussion) is mandatory.
- It is compulsory to pass the 3 quizzes at the end of each session within the time limit of the workshop.
- 1 activity must be successfully completed at the end of the Project Based Learning strand during the workshop period.
- At the end of the workshop, it is mandatory to complete a survey in order to obtain feedback from the participants as a basis for optimising future versions of the online workshop.
After successfully completing all activities, participants will receive a certificate in the online classroom and a few days after the course completion, a certificate of completion of the pedagogical training by post (to the faculty).
