This workshop is designed to introduce how to implement problem-based learning using ICT. In addition to an introduction and a conclusion, it consists of 3 sections:
Collaborative Learning
In this topic you will learn some basic concepts related to collaborative learning. You will learn about the different definitions of collaborative learning, the comparison between traditional and collaborative learning groups, the role of the teacher in collaborative learning, ways of assessing collaborative learning, and the difficulties and challenges cited by many researchers in the field. At the end of the chapter, you can check your understanding with a knowledge assessment instrument.
- Computer Supported Cooperative Learning
In this topic, you will learn some basic concepts related to computer-supported collaborative learning. We will present some selected examples of computer-supported collaborative learning and additional links to the field of collaborative learning using ICT. At the end of the chapter you will have the opportunity to test your own understanding of the basic concepts of computer-supported collaborative learning.
- Problem-based learning
In this topic, you will learn about the problem-based learning approach, how to evaluate it and how to support it with ICT. We also give you different examples of planning problem-based learning supported by different collaborative learning environments. Finally, you will have the opportunity to try your hand at planning a problem-based learning lesson using ICT.
Objectives of the online workshop:
- to learn about the collaborative learning approach;
- to learn about computer-based collaborative learning;
- to learn about the problem-based learning approach supported by collaborative learning environments;
- planning strategies and introducing problem-based learning into your own teaching work.
Prerequisites for recognition of the online workshop:
- During the scheduled workshop time, you are kindly invited to participate in the various topics of the participant forum (discussion, substantive questions, etc.) located at the beginning of the workshop. Participation in at least one discussion (either by posting a discussion or responding to an existing discussion) is mandatory.
- It is compulsory to pass the 3 quizzes at the end of each session within the time limit of the workshop.
- 1 activity at the end of the problem-based learning strand must be completed successfully within the time limit of the workshop.
- At the end of the workshop, it is compulsory to complete a survey in order to obtain feedback from the participants as a basis for optimising future versions of the online workshop.
After successfully completing all activities, participants will receive a certificate in the online classroom and a few days after the end of the course, a certificate of completion of the pedagogical training by post (to the faculty).
