DIGITAL COMPETENCIES OF TEACHERS - DIGCOMPEDU
This workshop will introduce you to the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators – DigCompEdu. The framework is a fundamental, scientifically based document that serves to develop strategic orientations in each country and to introduce relevant tools and training programmes. It is intended for teachers at all levels and in all areas of education – from pre-school to university education, adult education, compulsory, general and vocational education, education of students with disabilities and non-formal education.

The workshop is designed to introduce the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu). It consists of 8 chapters in addition to an introduction and a conclusion:
- DigCompEdu
In the first topic you will have the opportunity to learn about the DigCompEdu framework. You will learn about the 6 domains of competencies and the progression model that helps teachers to understand their areas of strength and weakness by describing the different stages or levels of development of digital competencies. The levels of achievement of the competencies are divided into six levels.
In this section you will look at the materials and resources, take the quiz and participate in the discussion.
- Professional Engagement
You will learn about the first area of the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) – PROFESSIONAL ENGAGEMENT, which covers the following competencies: organisational communication, professional collaboration, reflective practice and digital continuous professional development.
In this section you will look at the materials, participate in a discussion on professional development, design ICT-supported pedagogical learning activities addressing the professional development competencies.
- Digital Resources
You will learn about the second domain of the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) – DIGITAL RESOURCES, which covers the following competencies: selecting digital resources; creating and modifying digital resources; managing, protecting and sharing digital resources.
In this section, you will look at materials and resources, participate in a discussion on digital resources and design ICT-supported pedagogical learning activities that address the competencies of digital resources.
- Teaching and Learning
You will learn about the third domain of the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) – TEACHING AND LEARNING, which covers the following competencies: teaching; guidance; collaborative learning and self-regulated learning.
In this section, you will look at materials and resources, participate in a discussion on teaching and learning, and design ICT-supported pedagogical learning activities that address the competencies of teaching and learning.
- Assessment
You will learn about the fourth domain of the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) – ASSESSMENT, which covers the following competencies: assessment strategies; analysing evidence; feedback and planning.
In this section, you will look at materials and resources, participate in a discussion on assessment and evaluation, and design ICT-supported pedagogical activities that address the competencies area of assessment of learning and student learning.
- Empowering Learners
You will learn about the fifth domain of the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) – EMPOWERING LEARNERS, which covers the following competencies: accessibility and inclusion; differentiation and personalization; and actively engaging learners.
In this section you will look at materials and resources, participate in a discussion on empowering students, and design ICT-supported pedagogical learning activities that address the competencies of empowering students.
- Facilitating Learners’ Digital Competence
You will learn about the sixth domain of the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) – FACILITATING LEARNERS’ DIGITAL COMPETENCE, which covers the following competencies: information and media literacy; communication; content creation; responsible use and problem solving.
In this section you will look at materials and resources, participate in a discussion on promoting the development of students’ digital competencies, and design ICT-supported pedagogical learning activities that address the competency area of promoting the development of students’ digital competencies.
- Self-reflection
In this section you will have the opportunity to learn about and use a tool to help you reflect on your digital competencies as a teacher.
You will look at the materials and resources, solve the questionnaire, participate in a discussion on the self-evaluation tool, use the DigCompEduCheckIn self-evaluation tool and submit a report.
Objectives of the online workshop:
to learn about the DigCompEdu framework;
to learn about the progression model;
to learn about the individual ICT-supported competencies;
design ICT-supported pedagogical learning activities that address the individual competencies of the DigCompEdu framework;
self-evaluation of the achievement of digital competencies in education.
Conditions for the recognition of the online workshop:
During the announced workshop period, you are kindly invited to participate in various activities (e.g. discussion, etc.) within the individual strands, which are mostly recommended and not all of them mandatory.
It is mandatory to successfully complete the quiz at the end of the first topic during the workshop period.
It is mandatory to successfully complete the activities at the end of each theme (Theme 2 – Theme 7) within the time limit of the workshop.
Participation in at least one of the discussions offered on the presented competencies is mandatory during the workshop period.
Successful completion of the closing activity is mandatory during the workshop period.
At the end of the workshop, it is mandatory to fill in a survey in order to obtain feedback from the participants as a basis for optimising future editions of the online workshop.
After successfully completing all activities, participants will receive a certificate in the online classroom and, a few days after the end of the course, a certificate of completion of the pedagogical training by post (to the faculty).
